Notable properties, such as the North American headquarters
of Britain's G.K.N. Automotive Components in Auburn
Hills, the Canterbury-on-the-Lake Retirement Community
in Waterford Township and the high-tech medical research
facility of Advance Medical/Metpath in Auburn Hills
are only a few of the scores of substantial projects
we have undertaken with complete electrical design/build
responsibility.
In 2002, the company completed a $ 2,000,000.00 design/build
project in expanding the 25 MVA, 40,000 volt industrial
substation at the former Warren Tank Plant. Extending
the new primary voltage capacity in the plant required
the installation of approximately six miles of underground
primary cable.
We have developed considerable expertise in providing power, lighting and communications solutions for existing facilities. Industrial plant managers are frequently referred to The Talbot Corporation by electrical utilities for service upgrades, high-voltage work, primary service conversions and power factor correction. Data processing managers look to us for the proper selection and installation of uninterruptible power supply (U.P.S.) systems and standby emergency generators. The company recently completed a $2.6 million design/build installation of 38MW of standby and peak-shaving on-site generators for the Ford Motor Company. This project accomplishes the curtailment objectives of Detroit Edison's SMC agreement with the automaker. We can provide consultation and complete installation assistance in matters of energy-efficient lighting retrofits, site and security lighting, power distribution and conditioning, motor control, programmable logic controllers, public address systems, fire alarm systems and
computer cabling.
Other areas of notable experience include on-site final assembly and installation of medical diagnostic and radiology equipment, complete electrical services for hospital/clinical diagnostic rooms and full-spectrum electrical services for local television broadcasting stations.
Because of the company's extensive background in the design and installation of primary services, DTE Energy appointed The Talbot Corporation to the utility's elite High Voltage Services (HVS) team as a contractor providing value-added solutions to primary customers and secondary customers.
As electrical specialists, we routinely employ our in-house CAD/CAE system
in the course of preparing proposal, design and construction
drawings. System capabilities include 2-D and 3-D
representations of electrical systems, artificial
lighting performance modeling for both indoor and
outdoor applications, coordination studies for proper
selection of overcurrent devices in distribution systems
and more.
